Business Rates Advice For Tenants

Business Rates Holiday for Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Businesses but not for vacant properties.

The Government has introduced a business rates holiday for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England for the 2020 to 2021 tax year. The Welsh Government have also announced that all retail, leisure and hospitality businesses will receive 100% non-domestic rates relief in 2020-21 regardless of Rateable Value. The companies and people that are eligible for the business rates holiday are business in England or Wales and those that are in the retail, hospitality and/or leisure sector.

The properties that will benefit from the relief will be occupied properties that are wholly or mainly being used:
• as shops, restaurants, cafes, drinking establishments, cinemas and live music venues
• for assembly and leisure
• for hospitality, as hotels, guest & boarding premises or self-catering accommodation

In order to access the scheme there is no action required. However, local authorities may have to reissue your bill to provide this support. They will do this as soon as possible.
